After eight successful years of art-directing busy creative staffs for two significant paper goods companies, Robin Roderick decided to strike out on her own. She established Robin Surface Design Studio in 2000 and has never looked back.
The child of creative parents, Robin finds inspiration wherever she goes-- tiny water drops beaded up on a leaf, the twilight colors of purple and orange in a cityscape, hand painted Mexican pottery or even a lively conversation with a friend.
Robin works in her home studio in Dallas, Texas with her loyal assistant, Maya Matisse, a tiger Siamese, often found napping in the sun. Styles that come easily to Robin range from painterly to whimsical to hand crafted collages. “I love the feel of the paint brush – the flow of creative energy is almost Zen-like for me. Hours can go by without even knowing it,” she says.
An obvious passion for her craft, a positive, bright disposition and a keen sense of color and design are all reflected in Robin’s work.
