Susan Black
"I hope my artwork makes someone smile, that they might be encouraged to slow down and appreciate the simple goodness in their own life: a kind word spoken, an inspirational phrase, a colourful bloom, a butterfly flitting by or time spent with pets and family. My creations are my own visual gratitude journal – I count my many blessings in and around my home & gardens, while strolling on the beach each day with my dog Winnie and when I’m surrounded by nature."
Susan Black is a former graphic designer, creative director & product designer working for over 20 years in the gift/home decor industry. She recently combined all of her life long creative loves - design, typography, colour & a passion for paper (especially vintage) and turned them into her own unique, bold collaged based illustration style. She has degrees in both Fine Art & Graphic Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and has managed to happily keep a foot in each of those disciplines.
Susan lives in the tiny seaside village of Pugwash on the North East coast of Nova Scotia, she can see the ocean from her second floor studio windows while she works - heavenly ! She shares her 150+ year old brick cottage with a gang including one charming prince, two dogs and three cats. One of her cats Oliver acts as studio manager & boss of her burgeoning Creative Empire.
