Kathleen Parr McKenna
“I love to paint with watercolors!! Creating designs and artwork for over 35 years has always been fun. It is a career and a job that is never tedious, but always fulfilling, rewarding and satisfying.”
“Licensing the images to the gift and home decor industry for 20 years has brought so many wonderful people into my life. After having a great career with galleries, teaching and commissions, the transition into licensing was a smooth process.”
Kathleen attended The Interlochen Arts Academy, earned degrees from Lake Michigan College and The American Academy of Art in Chicago. She has corporate collections in various parts of the country as well as privately owned. She has presented workshops and lectures in watercolor painting and for several years her studios held lessons annually for enthused watercolorists.
Watercolor is considered by many the hardest media to work in. Kathleen mastered it explicitly and some consider her the “guru” of watercolor. She is busy year round in her studio in Hawaii. “It is never hard to get up and go to the office here. The beauty and inspiration is all around uniting with the serenity and emotions of the islands.”
Kathleen’s attention to detail, responsiveness to her clients’ needs, product development and close attention to trends have brought her and the companies she licenses with superior sales and recognition. Having licensed with over 100 companies in her 20 year career, she is considered to be a leading designer and painter and stays true to expressing the excitement and excellence of watercolor painting.
